Welcome to Year 1

During Year 1, the children will enjoy a range of texts in English which are brought to life through drama, SPaG and writing sessions. The children will become more skilled in all aspects of Maths and will develop their understanding of numbers to 100 as well as their knowledge of shape, space and measure. In Science our topics are: ‘Animals Including Humans’, ‘Materials’ and ‘Plants’.

In History, we study ‘The History of Our School’, ‘The History of Toys’ and ‘The Seaside’. In Geography we study: ‘The Countries of the UK’, Human and Physical Features’ and ‘Routes and Maps’. In Year 1, we use a range of digital resources to teach the children how to code such using the Beebots. In addition, the children will gain experience of using a range of programmes such as: Microsoft Word and PowerPoint as well as Google Safe Search to further develop and enhance their computing skills.
