Children's Wellbeing
If you have any concerns about your child’s wellbeing or mental health then initially contact their class teacher, we operate an open-door policy, but you can also contact staff via the school office. Your class teacher will be happy to arrange a meeting with you and invite other members of staff that they feel would support the conversation. Following a meeting we will put appropriate support in place in school and signpost children and families to appropriate external services or professionals to provide support.
We run a variety of small groups to support children’s social and emotional needs from social skills and friendship groups to ELSA sessions. An ELSA is a trained teaching assistant who delivers an individualised support programme to meet the emotional needs of children. It recognises that children learn better and are happier in school if their emotional needs are also addressed. This intervention is now widely implemented by educational psychologists across Britain.
